Job Title:  Logistics Coordinator
Department/Location of Position: 
Reports To: Head of Operations

Summary of Position

The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the schedules and supporting services required to execute animal movements and transportation. This position will work closely with multiple members of Grow-Finish and Sow Production team, Feed Mill, Custom Haulers, and Packing Plants.


Job Duties & Accountabilities:

Typical Duties of the Logistics Coordinator include:


  • Establish times, drivers, and equipment for animal movements according to biosecurity, animal handling, and trailer utilization
  • Distribute schedules to drivers, field staff, site staff, packers, and others, and communicate changes timely and effectively
  • Collaborate with site staff and field staff to ensure optimal economic outcome
  • Collect and provide actual performance information as required (weights, DOA, other KPI’s)
  • Provide support during business hours to resolve unplanned circumstances
  • Responsible to provide regular and often daily after-hours support
  • Document all issues and change requests related to animal movements to support/validate process improvement
  • Report any biosecurity, animal handling, property damage, equipment or driver related issues or opportunities to appropriate individual(s)
  • Review and approve contractor invoices, validate any discrepancies, and propose resolution
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with established procedures (biosecurity, load crew, driver, market trailers, equipment care, safety, etc.)
  • Coordinate with fleet and truck wash to support established maintenance and washing protocols
  • Coordinate with site staff and grounds maintenance to ensure sites are clear of snow/ice in winter months prior to transport arrival


Minimum Qualifications


  • Associates Degree in Animal Science or a related field
  • Previous experience with livestock transportation/logistics/dispatching
  • Fundamental understanding of swine production and biosecurity concepts
  • Advance knowledge of Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) and Transport Quality Assurance (TQA) programs




  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication and listening skills and display a high level of leadership
  • Ability to understand data, make a recommendation for action based on the information and predict an outcome based on the action
  • Must be able to work and a fast paced and changing environment and perform in stressful situations
  • Advance computers skills in Microsoft Office applications and the web-based applications
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Prompt communication and time management skills
  • Demeanor should be professional, helpful, and positive
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
  • Experience with conflict management and resolution
  • Must be reliable and have flexibility with hours of work based on business needs and when unplanned situations arise
